Day 238: Mon April 7th - Rockin the road

On the way to being dropped off.
Day Two Hundred Thirty-eight
- Rockin the road

Dropped off and ran the foothills, through various roads, through the woods and back home.
I did track my miles today on GPS <head held in shame>, which I said I would NOT do during this year streak, but I couldn't help it. For me it wasn't about the miles but more out of monitoring distance with my four legged companion.  Jax is conditioned to go about 7 miles or so, and though I have a regular route that I know is exactly that, I wanted to run somewhere new and make sure not to push him too far. We ended up going just shy of 9 miles. It was great.  Jax rocked it! I brought lots of water for him.  We always cute and funny looks as he drinks water during our runs from my water bottle, as I squeeze it into his mouth (I also have a little collapsible bowl).  The weather was beautiful, clear skies. It ended up being warmer than I anticipated, so I was a bit too toasty in my long sleeve black running shirt.  Time flew by, I felt like I could go a lot longer, but needed to get him home. It was as close to a perfect run as you could get.

Tired pup.

Day 213: Thurs March 13th - This is how I fly

Day Two Hundred Thirteen -
 This is how I fly...

Gorgeous morning long run.  The temperature was perfect, the ground smooth and my feet soared. No heel pain today!

The county posted several of these bird boxes on trees throughout. It's funny how you notice the slightest change(s) in an environment you have run hundreds of time, looking at them with new wonder and curiosity. Jax will often growl at something seemingly out of place on the trail, or if he doesn't happen to do a low grumble growl, his hackles will rise alerting me he sees something not usually there.

The horses were out in pasture today. A sweet mama and her baby, munching on grass in the field. Jax didn't lunge at them in excitement this time, but rather sniffed in their direction, ears perked up and then cruised after me off-leash since he was trailing behind.

No thorns in paws + no major time limits = long run reminding me how wonderful it is to be able to run and feel joy in the moment of doing so.

Day 135: Wed Dec 25th Christmas Day

Day One Hundred Thirty-five:
Christmas Day

Beautiful day!  Bright blue skies, clean air and a great run w/ Jax after waking up at the crack of dawn, downing some coffee and watching the girls unwrap their Christmas presents.   I can honestly say I really wasn't in the mood to change out of my cozy pajamas, nor step away from the cookies for breakfast, but once I was outside it was well worth it.  Jax and I cruised along the quiet roads.  The trail was too crunchy with ice and snow so it was a road running kind of morning.  People were friendly waving as we ran by,  talking about the beautiful day and some saying Merry Christmas.

                                                                                                         Merry Christmas!
