Day 273: Mon May 12th - Beautiful

Day Two Hundred Seventy-three - Beautiful

No words can truly describe how beautiful the flowers are as they envelope you on the trail in waves of purple spray, hitting you on both sides.  The smells equally intoxicating.

Day 196 and 197: Feb 24th and 25th - Spring Recovering

Day 196 & 197 - Spring Recovery

Whew.... on the up swing from some nasty virus that smacked us all in the gut over the weekend.  Poor Jax also still recovering.  Not sure how we all, including the dog, ended up with some gastrointestinal problem that came in swift and harsh. Perhaps from the river that Jax swam in recently?  Who knows....luckily we are feeling 99% better.

However, the sunshine is wonderful medicine.  The past few days have been warm and beautifully spring like - in the 60's.

Day 158: Fri Jan 17th - The Incredible Sinking Full Moon

Day One Hundred Fifty-eight:
The Incredible Sinking Full Moon

Again my phone camera doesn't do the full moon justice.
I swear it looked 400% bigger and much more beautiful to my naked eye than it did through the lens of my phone.
It's funny how that works. The moon was so large and full that for a moment I stood still and took it in before attempting a photo. I didn't include the close up photos here as they were a disaster and look more like a photo attempted while chewing on some hallucinogenic mushrooms.

Marvelous run. I went to bed early last night and slept very well for a change.Today's run mirrored my nights sleep as it also left me feeling refreshed and alive.  I love that feeling.

Funny story: I was playing Skyrim (yep...I'm a nerd) with my older daughter on the xbox and she marveled at how truly beautiful the game graphics were. Siena commented that she thinks the graphics in the game are more beautiful than real life. I agreed that while they are very pretty, in my opinion, Skyrim is a far cry from how beautiful real nature and the world can be.
I told her she should go trail running with me again soon and she will see how beautiful outside can be.
She gave me the eye rolling 'there-is-no-way-in-hell' look while slowly shaking her head. lol

However, Skyrim is quite beautiful for a virtual world. lol

Bethesda does some of the most beautiful scenery I've ever seen in a video game. This is from Skyrim.Skyrim enb2012_3_17_12_53_48

Day 115: Thurs Dec 5th - "It's a marshmallow world..."

Day One Hundred-fifteen:    "It's a marshmallow world..."

As silly as it may sound, listening to Dean Martin Christmas album on my mp3 while running in 9 degree temperatures, helps me forgot how bitter cold it is.  I find it impossible to be in a bad mood listening to him sing Marshmellow World.  It lightens my (careful) footfalls across the frozen ice and snow carpeting the roads and feels like dancing.
I can't resist branching off and sinking again in the snow path above the usual rocky trail, it's so pretty and peaceful.  No cars, no people.... just me, the snow, footprints of numerous animals who live in this little forest hideaway scurrying about and Marshmellow World.
I challenge you.
Try listening to this song and not feel happy
(or crave some sort of warming cocktail).
 Happy frosty holidays :)

Day 113: Tues Dec 3rd - "Oh the weather outside is frightful..."

Day One Hundred-thirteen -
"Oh the weather outside is frightful...."

Beautiful run, but a bit on the chilly side. ;)
Jax was psyched!  I let him take off on the trail and he pranced and jumped around in the snow like a puppy seeing it for the first time. Sprinting ahead, burying his nose in the fresh snow, shaking off his fur, sliding around the icy spots and sprinting ahead once again. So fun!  I love fresh snow.  Not only is it peaceful and pretty to look at, fresh snow has good traction to run on.  Certainly a lot less slippery than the slush, ice or parts on the road.  Though I might need to waterproof my shoes... they were soaked by the time we made it back home. I wonder if they make Ugg running shoes??!  They should!

Jax looking down the trail. I wonder what he is thinking?

Day 63: Mon Oct 14th - Is this Heaven? I think so.

Day Sixty-three: Leaves, leaves and more leaves
Need I say more?!  I'm surpised I managed to run as quickly as I did today as I wanted to stop and marvel at the bright and amazing colors surrounding the hillside. It was incredible. Some of the trails up here are really closed in and you become enveloped in leaves and the smells of fall.
I wanted to memorize the beauty, jump into the leaves and make a blanket out of them, basking in their fantastic ranges of deep red, orange, bright and almost fluorescent yellows in a background of deep green.
My phone camera doesn't capture how beautiful it is in person.  Sadly, the photo below was a bright carpet of Autumn colors, but came out blurry and muted.
Have you been able to enjoy the Autumn season falling around you? If not, you must. It goes away too fast.  Soon the snows will arrive with it's own version of beautiful.
